“I am not my pants”

I am an observant Jewish woman who wears pants.
It was after careful study and consideration of halacha (Jewish law) that I made the choice to wear pants. Finding myself judged for such a personal decision is a struggle for me. People forget that modest dress is no more important than halachot (laws) about treating people respectfully, judging favorably, and avoiding slanderous talk. Every judgment passed on another Jew lessens the spirit of the Jewish community. My clothes, on the other hand, do not lessen my connection to G-d.
