“I am not my loss”

Growing up without a father has always burdened my life. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in his early 20’s and didn’t know there was a cure so he committed suicide when I was only 2 years old. It’s hard not to have a father to come watch my sporting events or to even see me graduate.

But I’ve been fortunate enough to have a mother, sister, and grandparents who have raised me to be the man I am today. His loss is extremely unfortunate, but I do not let it dictate how I live my life. I strive to succeed and be the best that I can be because I know he is looking down over me with a smile on his face and love in his heart. His loss drives me to succeed to provide for my present and future family.

Dad, I promise I will be great in this world and make you proud!! Love ya
