“I am not my hair”

Project Description:

I am grateful that I am alive. I had a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit. With surgery and radiation the doctor was able to cure me. All it cost was a change in the shape of my face and forehead, the retreat of my hairline and the loss of my eyebrows. That’s a good trade right? Still – I look in the mirror every morning and I think Where’d I go? Where’d I go?

I used to be pretty. Then an amazing thing happened. I turned forty. Suddenly I had crows feet, heart burn, saggy boobs, and dry skin. The more I age, the less my forehead shape, hairline and eyebrows matter. I used to be pretty but now I am older. Instead of pretty, now I get by on smart. And smart is beautiful. And beautiful is better than pretty any day.
